Assessment is a leverage point in education. If we can figure out how to assess what we want students to learn, then the intention for education is clear. In this blog, I want to think about how the practice of assessment can be an integral life practice. Herein, will lie the notes and thinking about assessment that passes through my mind. Starting with quadrants:
Interior
Assessment for Continuous Improvement Exterior
Assessment for
Accountability
Individual
Self Assessment
(What does the individual need to do to improve his/her own learning and products?
Criterion Referenced
Standards
(How does the individual measure against standards for achievement?)
Collective
Peer Assessment
(Using the groups established criteria for quality what can be done to help the individual improve?)
Norm Referenced Test
(How does the population fit together?)
